Fourth Largest Metro Chennai
Chennai is formerly known as Madras. It is the fourth largest city in India and the capital city of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Chennai is located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. Situated on the eastern coast of India attributing its location lusciously, Chennai boasts of a number of serene beaches. Nature has bestowed the city with enormous natural wealth, which is a blessing for the tourists as well as the residents. The historic hill stations of Ooty, formally known as Udhagamandalam, reached by the famous miniature train, and Kodaikanal are perfect bases for exploring and provide cool, calm, green contrast to the bustle of the cities.
The ancient city of Madras is known for its rich historical and cultural heritage. Yet, it is surely not behind on the scenic beauty front also. The temples in Chennai are architectural wonders. Nothing of that sort could be witnessed in any other part of the country. The temple that I first visited was pyramidal in shape, and at its top was a crown-shaped structure that signified the uniting forces of the gods. There are a great many sites for the reason pilgrims pour profusely into the ancient sites of Kanchipuram, Chidambaram, Kumbakonam, Trichy (Tiruchirappalli), Thanjavur (Tanjore), Madurai, Kanyakumari and Rameswaram – far outnumbering tourists.
Chennai has turned into a fast paced hustling bustling metropolitan city, which gives people very little time for themselves. The urban agglomeration of Chennai has an estimated population over 8 million, making it one of the largest urban agglomerations in India. Its manifestations revels everywhere, from vast temple compounds with steeply stepped, riotously colored gopurams that is a gateway tower to beautifully detailed rock cravings, and classical music and dance that are both complex and compelling.
